Version 3.10.3 Stable has hit the streets. I've done a couple upgrades at this point and all is working great.
3.10.30 combined with Polycom 3.1.1 firmware and 4.1.2 bootrom brings Music On Hold to the Polycom phones finally! Woohoo!
Oh, and they fixed a few other bugs too...
4.0 development seems to be pressing ahead quite well. The developers have just upped the development version to 3.11.9. I have been installing 3.11.8 regularly in a virtual and things seem to be shaping up quite nicely.

Hi, so how is sipX treating you? What is the typical client that is choosing sipX over other solutions? Has everyone been happy with it?
I currently deploy Cisco SMB solutions and want to offer an alternative with a lower price point for customers that are on a tight budget. SipX looks pretty attractive and relatively straightforward to deploy. I've been able to set up a lab pretty easily using a UC500 and a VoIP gateway and no major hurdles yet. I'm just looking for another opinion. It seems like a nice compromise between user friendliness, stability, and features.

We've been doing it for a couple years now. We use it as a lower price option to our Mitel offerings. It certainly can't compete on features yet but for a basic office setup it works fine.
I think if you can get a good product mix together and stick with it you can learn the ins-and-outs of all the components. That's the big problem with any open solution. Each of the pieces has its own quirks. With a single vendor solution things are definitely a little simpler.
For user friendliness I'd give it an A.
For stability I'd give it a B. You may want to setup weekly reboots just to clean things up. That's no different than we do on other systems though.
For features I'd give it a B. Nowhere near the hundreds of features of something like a Mitel (that's been around for 20 years). But they are adding more all of the time and it has come a long way in the 3 years I have been watching the product. Version 4 due at the end of Q1 should add a lot of much needed features.
